Cycling in the Allgäu
The Allgäu Cheese Road runs through the Allgäu cycling region and connects local dairies and farm cheese dairies with wonderful views of the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park and Lake Constance. The cheese route connects some of the most beautiful cycle paths in the Allgäu.
The best way to discover the Cheese Route is by bike (whether road bike or e-bike), as the Allgäu Cheese Route has plenty to offer with a total of 13 hay milk dairies and five farm cheese dairies. With different types of cheese such as mountain cheese, semi-hard cheese and Emmental, there is plenty to eat and drink on the bike.
The dairies along the cheese route are small businesses that source their milk from local farmers. The selection of cheeses ranges from mountain cheese to Emmental and Alpine cheese. Discover the cheese route and enjoy the best Allgäu cheeses!
More information about the dairies along the cheese route can be found on the official website of the Allgäu Cheese Route.

Allgäu Cheese Route Route
There is no better way to explore the Cheese Route than by bike. You can experience first-hand how cheese is made in the traditional way and get refreshments along the way. But it’s not just alpine dairies and farm cheese dairies, but also breweries, schnapps distilleries and restaurants that tempt you to stop for a bite to eat.
The old towns of Wangen, Leutkirch and Isny are also among the cultural highlights on the Allgäu Cheese Route. And not forgetting the wonderful views of the rolling hills, the Alps and Lake Constance.
You can explore the Cheese Route on four different cycle routes. The “BergKäse Runde” is one of the more challenging tours, while the “HeumilchKäse Runde” and the “BlütenKäse” tours are more family-friendly. The “Große Käseglück Runde” is particularly varied and suitable as a multi-day tour or for those who want to take things a little more athletically.

On the cycle path to Maierhöfen, the view of the Eistobel from the Argentobel bridge is worthwhile. Once you arrive in Maierhöfen, you will be spoiled with a selection of places to stop for refreshments. Just outside Maierhöfen you will also find the Butterblume alpine farm, where you can enjoy regional produce on orchard meadows.
