The best way to discover the Cheese Route is by bike (whether road bike or e-bike), as the Allg\u00e4u Cheese Route has plenty to offer with a total of 13 hay milk dairies and five farm cheese dairies. With different types of cheese such as mountain cheese, semi-hard cheese and Emmental, there is plenty to eat and drink on the bike. <\/p>

The old towns of Wangen, Leutkirch and Isny are also among the cultural highlights on the Allg\u00e4u Cheese Route. And not forgetting the wonderful views of the rolling hills, the Alps and Lake Constance. <\/p>

You can explore the Cheese Route on four different cycle routes. The “BergK\u00e4se Runde” is one of the more challenging tours, while the “HeumilchK\u00e4se Runde” and the “Bl\u00fctenK\u00e4se” tours are more family-friendly. On the way from Eglofs to Wangen, the view of the Alps is simply magnificent. A few kilometers before the old town of Wangen is the Zurwies organic cheese dairy, where you can watch the production process through large glass windows. After Zurwies, you cycle downhill towards Wangen. <\/p>

The picturesque old town of Wangen is known for its listed buildings. In keeping with the Cheese Route, you can make a short detour to the Cheese Museum, which is located in the museum landscape in the Eselm\u00fchle, before the cycle tour. <\/p>

From Wangen, you cycle leisurely on to Wigratzbad, where you can take your first break of the tour at the Wigratzbad cheese dairy. Not far from the neighboring village of Opfenbach is the Gr\u00fcnlandhof Tannenbach farm, where you can buy regional specialties. <\/p>

The Great Cheese Happiness then continues to Heimenkirch and past the Meckatzer brewery, where you can take a guided tour of the brewery if you book in advance. The route then continues to Weiler im Allg\u00e4u, where a wide selection of inns invite you to stop for a bite to eat. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

On the way to Oberreute and Hopfen, you will pass the Allg\u00e4u herb garden Artemisia and the Baldauf alpine dairy Hopfen, where you should try the Baldauf alpine cheese. Three kilometers later, the cycle path leads past the Rutzhofen alpine dairy, where you can sample various types of hay milk cheese. <\/p>

Further on in Gr\u00fcnenbach, you pass the K\u00e4sbaur alpine dairy in Gr\u00fcnenbach, which produces cheese, churned butter and natural quark. The Great Cheese Happiness then continues over the Argentobel Bridge to Maierh\u00f6fen. The 230 m long bridge crosses the Eistobel, an impressive rocky gorge. Once you arrive in Maierh\u00f6fen, you can stop off at the Butterblume alpine inn, which not only serves cheese specialties, but also homemade cakes and other hearty dishes. <\/p>

Isny is home to the organic hay-milk dairy K\u00e4sk\u00fcche, where you can take a guided tour of the dairy if you book in advance. The 29 km loop starts in the “herb village” of Stiefenhofen, which is known for its herb garden and artisan businesses. If you cycle the BergK\u00e4se loop clockwise, the steepest climbs are at the start of the cycle tour. The BergK\u00e4se loop has a total elevation gain of almost 300 meters. It goes up one kilometer past the first alpine dairy in Rutzhofen. This has already been awarded the DLG gold prize for its Allg\u00e4u mountain cheese. <\/p>

After Rutzhofen, you will pass Hopfen, where the Artemisia herb garden is located. Not only medicinal and aromatic plants await you there, but also home-made teas, coffee and cake. Afterwards you can buy souvenirs from the Allg\u00e4u in the herb store. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The small village in the border triangle is about 15 minutes by car from Eglofs and free parking is available. \n\nNot far from Weiler, you reach Baldauf’s cheese and wine cellar, the first stop on the tour. You should definitely try the Baldauf alpine cheese here. The cycle path then leads through Lindenberg, where the Lindenberger Hof invites you to stop for a bite to eat. After Scheidegg, the route takes you on a loop to Bremenried, where traditional cheese and butter are produced in the hay milk dairy. The region is known for its lush meadows that smell of hay in summer. In winter, the hay is used as fodder for the dairy cows, whose milk is later used to make the unique hay-milk cheese. The 28-kilometre Haymilk Cheese Tour is one of the most beautiful cycle tours in the region and starts in Gestratz. In Gestratz, you can shop at the village market before starting the tour and then head off in the direction of R\u00f6thenbach and Gr\u00fcnenbach, where the K\u00e4sbaur Sennerei Gr\u00fcnenbach dairy is located. Here you will find traditional cheese specialties made with organic hay milk. <\/p>

On the cycle path to Maierh\u00f6fen, the view of the Eistobel from the Argentobel bridge is worthwhile. Once you arrive in Maierh\u00f6fen, you will be spoiled with a selection of places to stop for refreshments.
